COTENDO ADVANCED DNS
Cotendo Advanced DNS (ADNS) is a high performance, globally distributed DNS service for any web site or web applications. It improves the performance of DNS services, and a user's web experience, compared to the DNS infrastructure that most deploy. It provides a layer of security by eliminating a site's vulnerability to denial of service attacks when DNS is otherwise in a concentrated location. And there are additional performance benefits when used in conjunction with Cotendo's suite of CDN and site acceleration services - the synergy of combined service deployments eliminates the extra time it takes to locate and switch between the core network and delivery services (such as CDN, DSA and ADNS) when they are otherwise located on different network and domains. ADNS has advanced features for DNS, such as allowing CNAME configuration to root domain (with no "www."), rather than relying on http redirection as others require. Configuration changes made to ADNS are reflected in the system in real time without delay or lag.
Key Benefits and Features
- Performance - Based on BGP Anycast architecture; all end user queries arrive to the nearest globally distributed Cotendo CDN point of presence (POP).
- Security - Cotendo ADNS is written from scratch and does not have the known vulnerabilities of open source solutions. Globally distributed deployment protects from DDoS (denial of service) attacks.
- Redundancy - Each Cotendo POP is internally redundant for DNS services and high performance CDN connectivity, as well as full global redundancy between all Cotendo locations.
- Management - ADNS settings and CDB policies can easily be managed in the web-based configuration manager. Staging environment allows test and validation of DNS results.
- Globally diverse footprint on Cotendo's high performance platform for distributed DNS services.
